Now with all the mayhem & evil that is happening at home and abroad, you may wonder where is God? How can He claim to be God whilst all this is happening right under His nose?
I would like to approach this from this perspective; God is everywhere. He sees, he hears, and he knows everything simultaneously. God is all powerful, meaning there is nobody greater. These are some of His attributes, His character. God’s attributes are the very essence of who He is, His very nature. This is what makes him God. God the creator of all things.
Another attribute Of God is “Love.” God loves us beyond our human comprehension like a good father loves his children but so much more. God wants us to acknowledge His love and who He is to us, our loving Father and who we are to Him, His beautiful, precious creation. God wants us to love Him voluntarily, out of choice & not under duress. This is why God created us with a free will. That simply means we all get to choose what we do, good or bad. God will not force us to do anything; we get to choose whether we do good or bad everyday of our lives. We get to choose to love God or not.
An attribute of God that we seem to shy away from is that God is a just & fare God who will not leave sin unpunished. So whilst evil may be prominent in society & on the increase God is keeping tabs & the only way to escape the punishment that sin brings with it is to find God through Jesus. The one that God sent to pay the price of sin, which is death. The Bible warns us in Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
So where is God & how do I find Him?
God sees, hears & knows everything and we are allowed to choose how we use our time. But, as we use our time remember God is everywhere. He can be seen in a sunset, He can be seen in acts of kindness, he can be heard in a simple conversation or in the loud boom of thunder. Even when things are not going well & we may be facing difficult challenges that life throws at us, God is there. In the middle of our darkest moments He is beside us. The key to finding God is to search for Him. Jeremiah 29:11-14 (NIV) states:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”
In conclusion God is everywhere. God wants us to find Him so that we can enjoy loving relationship with Him & become like Him in all our ways. Take that first step towards finding Him. Talk honestly with God about every area of your life. He is near, He will be found!
